Although legislators have found a lot of room for disagreement on issues-- such as a budget for the rest of 2011, income tax reform and picking appeals court judges, Gov. Sam Brownback praised their accomplishments Friday.

The final bill does not contain many of the original provisions Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach put in when he helped draft it, but Kobach said there is still hope this session for measures such as prosecutorial powers for the his office, as well as harsher penalties for voter fraud.

The governor signed two pieces of legisaltion Tuesday that put restrictions on abortion after 22 weeks gestation and requires girls under 18 to have duel parental consent before terminating the pregnancy.
